Aerial Erecting

Where would we be without a bit of television at the end of the day? Where would we be without a decent television signal to watch our television programmes by? Thank goodness for our heroes of the hour, the television engineers responsible for our aerial erecting.

Whilst some aerials are fitted in attics, many are fitted on rooftops in all weathers. Many are directional antennae, which are lined up to face the transmitter full on. In the event that an antenna is not pointing in the correct direction an unclear picture will be displayed on the television. Should something go wrong with the erection of the antennae, an aerial erecting company will not have satisfied its customers (especially in the event of the World Cup or similar important, one-off live transmissions).

It is generally recognised that the higher an antenna is positioned, the better the picture. The signals that are received by an aerial at a higher level will be good even through obstacles such as forests and high ground.

What of the Aerial Erector? We know they serve a valued role in society but is it a safe job? As with most occupations there are considerable health and safety regulations in place to protect the worker but accidents can happen especially when at the mercy of Mother Nature. An unexpected gust of wind or a sudden lightning bolt could cause problems for the rooftop engineer.

Usually erected at high levels, upon rooftops, our aerial erectors are not vertigo sufferers in the main but whether they are nervous of heights or not, there are certain safety measures in place in case of an accident happening whilst carrying out work. For this reason insurance cover is necessary and protection in place should an employee suffer from a fall.

Additionally, professional liability insurance should be in place should work that is carried out cause problems for the customer through damage or suspected negligence. In order to serve the customer best, the aerial erector should have some insurance protection, just in case. Without insurance protection an aerial erection company could come unstuck in the event of a court case. As with many businesses that provide a product or service to a customer, liability insurance is vital.

We all enjoy our television viewing thanks to our friendly aerial installation engineers. Whether they are fitting a new aerial or adjusting an old one, they are doing a potentially dangerous job where accidents can happen.
